With God, Without God?

I went to a movie recently where Tom Cruise, emphatically belted and gestured out the lines, “with me, without me, with me, without me” repeatedly to make a point of how important he was. All I could really hear was the “me” part. I replaced the dialog with these words “with God, without God, with God without God” and it all started to become a little clearer to “me.”

The United States of America was built on a sound but fundamental spiritual foundation, essentially it was chartered and built with God’s backing (or blessing.) President’s weren’t afraid to refer to God, to print God’s name on money, buildings or include it in the foundational documents that would be the basis of how we grew this nation. While we embraced that relationship this country prospered for us, from our great, great, great grandparents right on through to many of us today. Far too many people today have abandoned that essential “colonial” relationship with God or at the very least have filed it away until they feel that they really need it. This is still a great nation, but as we operate it without God, the inherent greatness is quickly diminishing.

Is that really smart, when you have a winning formula, do you throw it out and go it alone? Especially when “alone” has proven to be a losing approach for all of recorded history? So I ask you, how do you want to live your life, with God or without God?
