Now or Later?
“Later, I don’t have time right now. I get it, really, but I’m good for now. You’re right but I have a real problem with religion and churches. I do pray, but I don’t want or need to talk about it, it’s personal, it’s between me and my keeper.”
Matthew 13:15 “For this peoples heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them”. Jesus spoke in parables, so that even those who had chosen not to hear, might have His seed planted. A seed that grows quietly and hopefully, someday yielding the fruit of devoted commitment.
Everyone wants free time to be a natural or theme-park, filled with excitement and fun or games or challenges or simple down-time. The House of Terrors frightens but again it’s ok, because we know there’s a light at the end of the ride. What if there is no light?
A relationship with God is not simply a rest stop or relief station. God’s kingdom is not a place that everyone will arrive at down the road or along the tracks of life. God is the daily destination, the beating of your heart, light of your subconscious and guide to your existence. God is today, not later, and so with today, God becomes tomorrow, which becomes forever. God is everything, without Him, there is nothing. Without Him there is no light. God is also personal. Rev 3:5 “He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels“. Our life-time on earth is our opportunity to learn this. Once it’s over … well just think about that!
