The Ultimate Search Engine
As a society we seem more easily influenced by the “miracles” of modern technology than by God’s timeless creation and His unequivocal power. Our quest for knowledge leads more often to the Internet than prayer. The Internet is a man made library, which when activated by search engines, provides answers to some human questions. Prayer on the other hand, is a free search engine, miraculously powered by and connected to the greatest knowledge resource in the universe. Jesus, the man, through prayer and doubtless faith, accessed the unparalleled wisdom and remarkable power of God. Similar power was evidenced by a few other men of great faith and recorded in the bible, but Jesus was the most articulate in clarifying this remarkable connection between the spirit of mankind and God.
In Luke 4:24-27 Jesus explains how, even men of great faith, himself included, when overwhelmed by the disbelief of those around them, experienced severe limitations in accessing the power of God. In Mark 6:4-6 Jesus’s remarks and abilities were further clarified by ” … In his own house is a prophet without honor. He (Jesus) could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. And he (Jesus) was amazed at their (those who knew him) lack of faith”. In Mark 10:51,52 Jesus made it clear to a stranger whose sight had just been miraculously restored, that it was that man’s faith and belief that had healed him. In Matthew 9:22 a woman who had been bleeding for 12 years, touched Jesus’s cloak and was healed, Jesus turned and said to her “your faith has healed you”. Without their belief in him, and their faith, those miracles were not possible even for Jesus, the man.
Jesus, the Son of God, once again our Almighty Lord and Savior, was totally human for the years that he walked the earth. His power and influence, came through faith, directly from God. No offense intended to the other guys, but prayer is the search engine we need for the important “life” stuff and faith is the up and download connection. Without them, we are eventually lost.
