This Holiday Season
Although Christmas isn’t recognized by some religions as a Biblical (or God ordained) holy day, it is none-the-less our added seasonal day to celebrate the birth and life of our Lord Jesus Christ, who in trinity, is the holiest of the holy. Christmas is the most traditional birthday celebration on the planet for the most untraditional life ever lived here. It is the ringing of the world’s bells for love and peace and for the joy present within these two highly desirable states of being. Romans 8:3 “For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature (the flesh), God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, (8:4) in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature, but according to the Spirit.”
It is important to accurately remember the man whom we are celebrating during the season that carries His name. In His honor, the celebration of His day should respect the life that he led. Jesus lived according to the Spirit, always honoring and respecting the Father, always cherishing those who believed in Him and always forgiving of those still seeking Him. He never wandered from His chosen path and earthly purpose. He shared, He served, He taught and He loved. He spread joy with words, comfort with healing and love, and hope with His promises. He celebrated life.
All these wonderful character traits, He displayed without; compromise, greed, drunkenness, selfishness, coveting, without sin of any sort. He did this His entire life. The life that we recognize and celebrate this season, was a life gifted to us, for our benefit and salvation. The giving of the gifts of life and hope and has no equal. In this holiday season, try not to confuse the celebration of God, with the often conflicting nature of human pleasures. Joy comes from the Spirit, not the spirits.
