Care for God’s Garden
What can I do differently? I really want a relationship with God but I don’t know what to do next? We are taught that God calls us but what does that mean? The mere fact that you are reading this suggests that by some means God has called you. It doesn’t matter if you believe that you stumbled on us, someone suggested or encouraged your interest or like many of us, the circumstances of life prevailed upon you. This Quiet Corner of the internet intends to pique your interest, open your eyes and hopefully your heart, slowly to the Lord. God does the rest. Through His Holy Spirit, the gospel is available to teach us. The bible is His word, the Spirit is our tutor. Growing physically changes us on the outside, while education, if it’s done well teaches us how to think or process valuable knowledge. God teaches us how to use these gifted tools to serve a positive life purpose, we call this heart. It’s an awesome feeling to realize that the big guy, that you’d previously only heard or read about is actually working in your life. For those who follow His path, He’s working at it full time, we just aren’t open to or aware of it. If we worked full time at anything and failed to even be acknowledged, we’d be a frustrated bunch, but we are not God. His patience, understanding, love and forgiveness are like an ocean to our thimble.
I understand, our lives are filled with surviving and living. That’s because we’re trying too hard to do it on our own. Genesis 2:15 “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it“. We gloss over the big stuff and focus myopically on the small stuff. Sometimes it’s beneficial to think of what God didn’t say. He didn’t say that He’d put man in the Garden of Eden so that he could take care of himself, He said “it”, the garden! God’s garden is for us, all we had to do was take care of it and God and the garden would care for us. History tells us that we didn’t care properly for His garden, we cared more for ourselves. Most of us still do that today and the struggle to go it alone weighs too heavily upon us. God wants what He always wanted, what a truly loving Father wants, for us to depend upon Him until he knows that we are ready, which in some ways we may never be. But if we believe in and rely on God, we’ll have eternity to get it right. The more of His work we do, the more of our work He’ll do. Teamwork.
