Inspired By Life

Does Christianity hold easy solutions to all of life’s dilemmas?  I don’t know your answers, but mine would be “no”.  Christianity per se is a way of leading one’s life.  Faith and trust in Christ on the other hand can change the way we experience and address the dilemmas of life.  Being a Christian does not in and of itself, remove our fears, tears or pain.  We each lead lives overflowing with trials, tragedy and hardships.  There should be a healthy dose of good in our lives but that we can enjoy without a second thought. When hardships arise that are out of our control there are often other doors which we might open, but all we’ll really find are hallways to walk or talk into, and they don’t hold permanent solutions which address those difficult fears.  Jesus Christ is the only man that ever conquered the worst trio of challenges which life holds; pain, suffering and death. As such, He’s the one that I want to speak to when also facing these challenges.  Jesus both reversed and overcame death. Doctors are able to reduce physical suffering and delay death in some cases, which is a blessing, but once faced directly, the expectation is for us is ever present.  Our Lord, faced His own earthly death with the certain knowledge of a better life to come.  Still that did not allay His concerns of suffering.  Only prayer did that.  Mark 14: 36, “Father, he prayed’ my father!  All things are possible for you. Take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet not what I want, but what you want.

Suffering comes in many forms.  None much easier than the next. As far as I can tell, when it comes to these very personal challenges, Jesus is the only long term solution, John 14:6Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me“. So I place my faith firmly in the hands of Jesus.  I’d rather dwell on the beauty of life, however long or short it might be, but that’s not always possible.  Every morning that I awaken, I thank the Lord for yet another opportunity, to respond when He calls, to enjoy the pleasures of life, the love of family and friends, as well as the beauty of His creation. One day, those of us who believe and trust in Jesus Christ will awaken to be with Him. This single understanding can help to carry us through the worst that this life can dish out. Until then we can enjoy His counsel in this life too, through faith and prayer.
