Soak-In-Love
Most of us have experienced various kinds and degrees of love in our lives, and yes they are each wonderful and some might even be to die for. In such cases, we’ve come to realize this human love through our physical senses, instincts or even reason where we might validate or memorialize that love. We’ve also come to understand that loving without any reciprocation either has a limited life or lifelong heartache associated with it. That said, for those who’ve not yet experienced God’s love, trying to intellectually OR emotionally describe it’s impact is simply impossible. The gift of words seems woefully inadequate in describing such an overwhelming, heart-holding emotion. When understanding something this intangible can bring tears of joy to our eyes, we know that God is speaking through His spirit within us, directly to the core of our being. While being moved and re-witnessing His miracles, our hearts also swell to unthinkable proportions. This enables us to help with his work and perhaps open someone else’s heart to the miracle of unconditional love. Since we have difficulty managing even a few close relationships, it’s nearly unfathomable for us to intrinsically understand that God’s relational abilities have no limits. For the hands that formed the universe to be living with each of our hearts, requires a faith and beliefs which can undeniably overcome our physical resistance to a full understanding.
To exist, never having witnessed our Lord’s love, is the saddest thought that I can imagine. “Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.” (1 John 4:8, 12 ESV). In our lives, love generally includes some disappointments, but with God’s love for His children, this is never the case. “But if anyone loves God, he is known by God.“(1 Corinthians 8:3 ESV). Our diluted forms of human love can never be effectively compared to the pure richness of God’s love for us. That is also a difficult concept for many to accept. Jesus has already given His life for us and his kingdom awaits His believing followers. Furthermore, through the Holy Spirit, we can however experience this love now, we needn’t wait for the promise of heaven for this to be fulfilled. When we walk into His house for worship, there will always be some tears of joy, as the Spirit of God envelopes our every sense and our earthly logic evaporates like a dense fog under a brilliant sun. Soak-in-love.
