Unsubscribed?

The Information Age has successfully added one more burden to our lives.  We need to unsubscribe from everything which has touched us in a prior period of our choosing.  We don’t want to look at, hear about or concern ourselves with anything beyond our choosing.  We already overfill our plates with past and present pleasures. Delete, delete won’t back it down enough and we can’t just shut down and ignore everything as much as we might “like” to.  God knows all too well from our daily activities, that we simply haven’t left any personal time for Him. This isn’t anything new. It’s been going on for the 7,000 years of our spiritually appended history.  Don’t stop reading just because you go to church, that’s not what this is about.  Church leaders know that their objectives haven’t been met when Sunday or Saturday services end each week.  There is another problem though, we really can’t find the purpose or or more importantly to us, the pleasure of sharing very much our life with God and this isn’t something which we’ll likely to admit, even to ourselves.

Now I can’t reasonably say that God actually enjoys golf, hiking, boating or vacationing, but I can say that He takes pleasure in ALL of our pleasures. More like any dad who enjoys watching His Children’s games. “For the Lord takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with salvation.” (Psalm 149:4 ESV). Rather than focus on this simple truth, many have chosen instead to unsubscribe from God and from all of His messengers.  This doesn’t sound terribly humble, where our lives are consistently deemed more important than God?  Note in the verse above, that it is the “humble” whom God saves, not the busy, the self indulgent or successful, not most of the masses of human kind. God is very concerned about quality time with His kids. Through His Holy Spirit, he has volunteered to attend virtually every life event which can be crammed into the lives of his children. He’d just like to have some personal time during or after each activity. Time to get better acquainted with us and show us just how much He really adores us.  It’s also vital to understand that we each must ask for the right to become one of His children (John 1:12).  God has made no reference to any of us as grandchildren.  It doesn’t matter how many generations removed we are from our biblical ancestors, he takes a front row seat whenever He’s invited.  God is here for us today, don’t unsubscribe from this critically important truth to go it alone.
