No Re-Elections Ever!

Trusting in a treacherous man in time of trouble is like a bad tooth or a foot that slips.” (Proverbs 25:19 ESV).  There certainly weren’t any flies on Solomon with that one.  Treachery, is the willful betrayal of welfare, confidence or trust. In 2011 it’s hard to finger just one individual worthy of that label, but in these United States of America, it’s easy to spot two deserving parties.  I’m speculating that similar problems exist all over the “free” world. For us it’s treacherous men and women, who’ve somehow come to share a common belief that their way is the only right way.  To prove themselves correct, our two primary parties have intentionally chosen to “tear the proverbial baby in two”.  The baby is of course the U.S.A.  The problem is of course is that’s it’s not their baby, it’s our baby.  They have separated themselves from the welfare of the family unit, so that they needn’t share the pains of their shameful behavior.  I’m only moderately concerned with being labeled as radical here, because this time of trouble is greater than we can imagine. Our republic’s system of democracy has been hijacked by these two mightiest of collective ego’s.  We’ve been abandoned to their headlines, sound-bites and YouTube clips.  They treasure an audience more than their constituents. They relish the power they wield more than any wisdom they may have been blessed with.

The British historian and moralist, Lord Acton, expressed this in a letter to one Bishop Creighton in 1887: “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.” The absolute, unchecked powers that we have allowed to develop and willingly supported have brought this nation to it’s theoretical knees and threatens to knock us down for the count. The labels adorned by our Republican and Democratic parties once represented two differing approaches to this nations welfare.  These approaches have grown from a soft line in the sand to a deep crack in the foundation of our common sense.  If we continue to sign on with their insanity, we are as guilty as they, in this travesty of self interests.  As in the biblical land of Palestine, where the parties and neighbors of interest are standing on “honor” alone, unwilling to compromise, we also will be publicly “faced” with ugly mask of stupidity. This Christian founded nation, was, no is better than that.  We led the world to new levels of welfare through innovation, compromise and leadership. The only way to effectuate the amount of change now necessary is to hit the universal eject button on our elected managers and enlist new leadership, but for limited terms of representation only.  Do what we must do and go home.  No re-elections, ever!
